Carolyn Thomas
President
Carolyn Thomas has been a teacher for nearly 40 years and a student for even longer. She currently teaches in the philosophy department at University of New Mexico. Carolyn holds degrees from Duke, Stanford, St. John’s College, and University of New Mexico. She loves books, ideas, conversation, and learning. She’s also a member of the Studebaker Drivers Club and enjoys tinkering with old vehicles.
Bruce Miller
Vice President
Bruce Miller received a B.S. degree in civil engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He has worked in the field of corporate finance for over 40 years. He also previously served as chairman of the board of directors of the Santa Fe Business Incubator. Bruce’s two daughters are graduates of the Santa Fe Girls’ School.
Melissa Benedict
Secretary and Treasurer
Melissa Benedict is a graduate of St. John’s College in Santa Fe, earned a master’s degree in psychology from the Goddard Graduate Program, and studied accounting at the Anderson School at UNM. She has many years of experience in accounting and management for non-profits, including seven years as finance director for a school. She has volunteered for political action groups, music organizations and several schools in Santa Fe.
Lee Lewin
Trustee
Lee Lewin co-founded the Santa Fe Girls’ School, which opened its doors in 1998, and taught in the classroom through the 2018-2019 school year. Lee’s aim was to develop an educational opportunity for middle school-aged girls in which a small school setting would foster academic excellence, emotional strength, and accountability, dialogue, trust and understanding among teachers and students.
Shelley Robinson
Trustee
Shelley Robinson is the parent of a Girls’ School graduate and was the School’s art teacher for a decade. Shelley has a master’s degree in printmaking from University of New Mexico. She also received glass art training from Pilchuck Glass School, Stanwood, Washington, and worked for 15 years as an arts educator at the Museum of International Folk Art.
Laura Holt
Trustee
Laura Holt is the parent of a member of the first class of the Santa Fe Girls’ School. She graduated from the University of Denver with a Master’s degree of Library Science. She worked in special research libraries in Santa Fe for 40 years. Laura spends time gardening and volunteering.
