History

We believe that history is a lens through which we discern patterns in order to better understand the present and to predict the future. Because the knowledge of geography is an essential tool for understanding history and the world we live in, we embed geography in all our history classes.

6th Grade: World History through the study of culture, including trade economies, languages, religions, empires and migration.
7th Grade: the shaping of New Mexico: medieval Spain; European expansion; Native America; cultural assumptions and perspectives; consequences of American conquest; and current events.
8th Grade: the shaping of the U.S. through Northern European expansion; Manifest Destiny; African slave trade; Native America; government and the Constitution; current events; economics.
