Joan Logghe teaches poetry to all grades at SFGS. The students experience reading and writing poetry through a ten-week workshop focusing on forms such as pantoum, haiku, ballad, prose, persona and free verse. The poetry course culminates with the publication of a book containing each student’s best poems and illustrations.
Santa Fe 400th Youth Poetry Contest winners include four SFGS students–Chiara Brandi, Genevieve Conley, Larissa Foy, and Gabriela Ortiz. The SFGS students were selected among 300 Santa Fe students and were honored on December 8, 2010. Please feel free read their poetry.
Now Inviting Girls Into our sixth grade!
Watch our sixth grade girls learn math as they hand carve a traditional New Mexican wooden chest
This School does an amazing job. I have been teaching there 15 years and seen class after class of girls change into their own womanhood and power. It is the most thoughtful staff and curriculum I have ever encountered.
