Come to the all-school graduation! Friday, May 25 from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon at United Church of Santa Fe, 1804 Arroyo Chamiso. All grades are involved in the program with poetry, music, and speeches. Please plan to attend. There will be a reception following the ceremony in the community room. This is a great way to let the 8th graders say good-bye! Come join the fun.

PRESERVE presentation

SFGS students report on the health of the Santa Fe River! Friday, May 4 from 10am-12pm. All are invited to the 7th Annual PRESERVE Presentation of Data at Santa Fe Girls’ School, 310 West Zia Road (parking is limited; attendees are urged to park at Albertson’s and walk the ¼ mile to the school).

PRESERVE (Protecting the River Environment, Stopping Erosion, and Restoring the Vital Ecology) is Santa Fe Girls’ School’s outdoor classroom for environmental science, focused on riparian restoration on 9 acres of the Santa Fe River.

Each grade will deliver new data, report on the status of their riparian restoration work, and demonstrate monitoring techniques through multiple mini exhibits and a culminating presentation. For the third year in a row, the program will include the release of a short film created by the 8th grade. Designed to be a newscast, the film is a light-hearted overview of the students’ activities this year.

SFGS 8th Grade at the NM Legislature

SFGS 8th Grade spent the day at the New Mexico Legislature discussing water quality and quantity issues with a youth forum and with Senator Peter Wirth and Representative Brian Egolf. Read a reflection on the day written by 8th grader Isabelle Kuziel (pages 4 and 5).

Photovoltaic Panel Donor Positive Energy Solar presents value and importance of solar energy to community. SFGS is pleased to host Positive Energy’s community presentation about the school’s new solar array. SFGS won Positive Energy’s first-ever Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System Grant in August 2011. The $15,000 solar PV system came online on December 14, 2011, with 16 Schott 230 watt modules. The school’s 3.68kW system is expected to offset approximately 50% of the school’s electricity needs.
