Cajón de la Familia (Family Treasure Chest) is student-made masterpiece – a gorgeous, large, hand-made wooden chest, completed as part of Girls in Focus: Hands On Math project.
The Treasure Chest is designed and built under the careful tutelage of a master carver Miguel Chavez, who keeps New Mexican traditions of building hand-carved furniture and teaches our students the art of working with wood.
We invite you to participate in the Raffle of this beautiful chest!
Drawing is held at the school on May 24th.
All proceeds support our Girls in Focus: Hands On Math program next year. The costs that are not covered by school tuition include materials, master woodworker Miguel Chavez’s teaching time, and the shop time that Miguel dedicates to hand working every aspect of the final piece.
