IMPACT Personal Safety is a violence prevention and self-defense curriculum offered to all SFGS students. IMPACT teaches students to stand up for themselves and others by using their voices, and body language.
Students in 6th and 7th grades attend one IMPACT workshop each year, and in the 8th grade all girls take a 20-hour Basic Course in which they learn and practice the skills necessary for personal safety in a potentially dangerous situation.
IMPACT was founded in 2000 as Your Safety / New Mexico in response to appalling sexual assault statistics in an effort to provide quality, preventative self-defense programming to the public and other service providers on a sliding scale basis. The programs instill participants with increased self-confidence and assertiveness – skills necessary for personal success as well as personal safety.

This School does an amazing job. I have been teaching there 15 years and seen class after class of girls change into their own womanhood and power. It is the most thoughtful staff and curriculum I have ever encountered.
